Kirstie O'Malley
Y1 Teacher (Elizabeth)
Kirstie joined the team in 2019 as a PPA teacher. She first qualified as a teacher in 1994, having gained a PGCE from Reading University and a degree in Theology from Oxford University. She has taught in Hampshire since then – for 8 years full-time, and then as a supply teacher once she started a family. Her roles included being School Grounds Co-ordinator, Arts Subjects Team Leader, Head of KS1, Foundation Stage Manager and Assistant Headteacher. As a supply teacher she has taught FS, KS1 and KS2 classes, mainly in a small number schools where she has had the privilege to work with the same children as they have progressed through the school. She also recently had her own reception and year one class but is now enjoying the opportunity to work with many different children at Floreat, at different stages throughout the school.
She loves to be part of the process of helping children learn and to discover about the world, forging their own path in it, and she embraces the challenge of trying to do that in the best possible way for each child. She is dedicated to helping children to become lifelong, passionate learners who wish to develop our Floreat values. She considers herself to be very lucky to work with children as they share their individual, enthusiastic, enquiring and imaginative natures, and being part of a team helping them when they need it.
Outside of school, Kirstie enjoys spending time with her family, walking, swimming, reading, listening to music and supporting her local Scout Group.
